Saint Francis Yach Club Cruise-Out

Join other OYC members for the first trip to the Saint Francis Yacht Club since November of 2006. The Saint Francis is located near Marina Green, Crissy Field, and the Presidio.

The St. Francis Yacht Club, founded in 1927, is the premier sailing club on the San Francisco Bay. The Club will host over 70 sailing events in 2010 alone, and is well known for its “Big Boat Series” every September. The St. Francis Yacht Club also owns “Tinsley Island” in the California Delta which is their outstation.

Facilities include a Grill Room for casual dining, The Pacific Room for upstairs formal dining, a gym, men’s and women’s locker rooms with sauna and steam rooms, and a gift shop for souvenirs. Be sure and take some time to browse the St. Francis Yacht Club’s impressive model and art collection and visit the Club’s library which contains rare and old sailing tomes.

The location in the Marina is perfect for hiking, exploring, and picnicking. Among many of the sites to see are the Exploratorium, the Golden Gate Bridge, Fort Point, and the new Walt Disney Family Museum in the Presidio.

On Friday night, take advantage of the areas many restaurants, including local favorites “Liverpool Lil’s”, “A16”, “Perry’s”, and “Izzy’s Steak House.”

On Saturday night a dinner will be held at 7:00 pm in the “North-West Room” of the St. Francis. The North-West Room of the St. Francis has a lovely view of the San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge. Drinks will be available beforehand with drink tickets that may be purchased at the front desk. Wine will be served with the dinner. Coat and tie for gentleman is recommended (Ladies wear equivalent dress.) Cost for the meal will be approximately $85/person and will be billed to your club account.

St. Francis Yacht Club will not charge the Oakland Yacht Club Dockage fees for the cruise in. Dock space is plentiful but not unlimited. Both 30 and 50 amp power is available as well as water and an ice machine at the dock. There is free parking for those who will drive in for any of the events.

Club rules require men to remove their hats and restrict the use of cell phones on the club premises. Guest cards will be issued by the front desk upon arrival. For docking instructions the Dock Master, Mark Mayer, may be reached at 415-305-3995.

Sign ups begin the week of February 1st. Cut –off to cancel for the Saturday night diner is March 5th. After that time club members accounts will be charged.
