Cruise-out to Benicia
June 29 - July 1

Diana and Michael Rose are looking forward to hosting Oakland Yacht Club’s 2012’s Cruise to Benicia. During the 1800s, Benicia was home to the California State Capital, a major military outpost and an international port. Today, Benicia has built onto its past glory and offers something for everyone – historical sites, art studios, antiques stores, specialty shops and inviting eateries. Throw in a million dollar location on the waterfront of Caquinez Strait and you’ve got a destination that adds up to more than the sum of its parts. Unfortunately, because the “Fourth of July” falls on Wednesday, we won’t have the benefit of a three day holiday weekend nor the pleasure of Benicia’s traditional parade and fireworks. However, it will be a great cruise to a fantastic destination.

Here is a quick look at the itinerary.

Friday, June 29th - OYC boats will arrive in the afternoon at the Benicia Marina after an invigorating 32 mile cruise through upper San Francisco and San Pablo Bays. With the recent harbor guest dock reduction a year ago, our cruise will be limited to only 15 boats. We will have a flood all the way up and arrive on a still rising tide. OYC will have the use of the guest dock at the fuel pier for the larger boats with the rest of the fleet Med-moored to dock “B”. Dinner will be at the Benicia Yacht Club.

Saturday, June 30th - Cruisers can spend the day enjoying the many sights of the town. Benicia is a great walking town with many shops and restaurants on 1st street (two blocks from Benicia YC), and it is very pet friendly. Benicia is known for its antique shops and local artist’s galleries. There is a full service shopping complex an easy walk to the top of First Street with a Safeway, a drug store, and many other convenience shops. Dinner that evening will be at the Union Hotel, located at First and “D” Streets.

Sunday July 1st - We depart for home. High tide is a little after noon, so sail boats will have no trouble getting out.
Berthing Fees: Fees per night are $19 for 30’ & under; $24 for 31’ – 40’; $35 for 41’ – 55’; and $45 for 56’ & Up.

Sign-ups will begin May 25th.
