The Oakland Yacht Club Presents
The Second Annual Oktoberfest Race:
Still Celebrating the Spirit of Lederhosen
Saturday, October 6, 2012

The second annual OYC Oktoberfest Race is upon us. This year, we will feature a South Bay course and a finish down the Estuary in front of the Oakland Yacht Club. The club will host a party after the race that will include traditional Oktoberfest sausages and beer.

Last year’s “Spirit of Lederhosen” was so successful that we are bringing back the celebration. Boats will be granted an additional 3 seconds per mile on their PHRF rating for each crew-person that is dressed in lederhosen while racing. Allowances will also be granted for women who dress in the “traditional” Oktoberfest style. If the moths somehow got your lederhosen or Oktoberfest outfits between last year and this one, creative license will be allowed, as long as it is in the “spirit of lederhosen.”

ELIGIBILITY AND SCORING
Open to all boats with a PHRF or BAMA rating. Elapsed times will be corrected using the Time on Distance method. Boats not submitting a PHRF or BAMA certificate will be given a non-contestable rating.

INSTRUCTIONS
The 2009-2012 RRS, prescriptions of US Sailing and the Standing Instructions of SF Bay YRA HDA will govern (YRA prevails if conflicting), except where modified by the OYC Sailing Instructions. Detailed instructions will be available on-line or at the club no later than September 22, 2012.
