ACTIVITIES

The Oakland Yacht Club events and activities brings
our community together both on and off the water.

As an OYC member you will enjoy the company of friendly people who share your passion for the water.   The beautiful setting of our dining room overlooking the estuary and Oakland skyline is ideal for casual meetings and formal events. As a boat owner, joining a yacht club proves you with many more ways to use your boat. Both power and sailboats take advantage of our many cruise outs to visit all parts of the San Francisco Bay, Delta, and even locations down the coast from the Golden Gate Bridge. You can also use your boat as a waterfront cabin, enjoying the remarkable weather on the NE side of Alameda Island and the many pleasures of Alameda itself.   Fun sailboat racing is available to all members. Racing boats are always looking for crew, so you do not need to own a sailboat to participate. The races are competitive, but low key and always a lot of fun. Best of all, most of the races take place immediately in front of the OYC clubhouse, so you are at the start line the minute you leave the harbor.

  • Cruise Outs
    • CRUISE OUTS

OYC has a very active cruise out schedule. Some of our favorite activities include:

      • Cruise outs to other yacht clubs around the Bay and down the coast
      • Anchor outs, including a unique progressive dinner boat-to-boat each year
      • Dinghy cruise outs where we buzz around the Oakland estuary and meet up at a local restaurant
      • An extended cruise out each summer to the Sacramento river delta

Cruising out is a great way to meet other yacht club members and expand your own range of destinations and set of skills. New boaters can take advantage of more experienced members to guide them to new harbors and learn new skills such as anchoring in currents. All boats of all sizes participate and it is a great experience for everyone. Please contact Cruise Chair at

      Reciprocity

Founded in 1913, the Oakland Yacht Club welcomes you. We offer reciprocal privileges and have formal agreements with a large number of yacht clubs worldwide. We enjoy the enviable reputation for hospitality and friendly atmosphere that we have maintained for the past 100 years, since the days when Jack London was a founding member.

Our clubhouse, built in 1990, is located in sunny Alameda and boasts some of the best weather in San Francisco Bay. It overlooks our 200 ft. guest dock and our 200-vessel capacity marina. We offer regularly scheduled dinners on Friday & Saturday nights, Wednesday lunch, and Sunday brunch, (temporarily not offered) all prepared by our professional chef.  We also enjoy a full social calendar of events and visitors are cordially invited to attend. For reservations for reciprocity berthing, events, and meals, please call 510-522-6868 Tuesday through Sunday or email the Club's Office Manager, Adam Kayne, at [email protected]
Guest berthing is based upon space availability so please contact the Club's office, [email protected] or 510-522-6868, if you are interested in visiting the Oakland Yacht Club by boat.   You will need to provide proof of current membership with a reciprocating Yacht Club, proof of insurance and current registration/documentation of your vessel.   The rate is $1.00 per foot, per night and the second night is complementary.   Guest are allowed up to a maximum of 14 days guest berthing per calendar year.

      OYC Members

The Oakland Yacht Club has formal reciprocal privilege agreements in place with a large number of yacht clubs in and around the Greater San Francisco Bay Area, the Delta Region and along the entire California coast line. Our agreements extend to the Pacific Northwest and other U.S. States, as well as Canada, Mexico and several other foreign countries. Oakland Yacht Club is a member of PICYA (Pacific Inter-Club Yacht Association) and Yachting Club of America.

Although the extent of privileges may vary slightly, generally an OYC member in good standing can expect to be allowed to use all of the welcoming club’s available facilities and services, including short term berthing, meal and bar service, and bathroom facilities.

Be sure to check when you call the club to make your reservation. The Oakland Yacht Club asks that when a member visits a reciprocal club, that you use the restaurant and bar to support that club.

Disclaimers and Terms: Booking here does not guarantee a spot. Spaces are NOT free and prices are variable. Pricing stated herein is NOT to be taken as final. Final pricing will be determined by specific conditions within the yacht party (ie number of passengers, captained or bareboat, provisions, licenses and mooring fees, etc).

Every chartered yacht must have a certified/licensed skipper aboard. If there isn't one aboard, parties will be made to hire a local captain at an additional cost per each day of charter (approx $300/day).This charter is being hosted by Oakland Yacht Club, but is not exclusive to club members. Group rates do apply, however. Charter agreements and payment terms are between individual charterers and the charter company, not with Oakland Yacht Club. Oakland Yacht Club does not agree to nor do they accept any responsibility for payments and/or liabilities associated with the charter.

Each skipper is responsible for their own charter and their crew independent of and not in association with Oakland Yacht Club.  Each skipper is responsible for their boat and fees, inclusive of filling their boat as desired.

Cancellations may impact entire boat party and overall charter costs for said boat. Choose your crew wisely.
Cancellation policies apply per the booking agency. Bookings for chartered yachts will be made direct to the booking agency.

Pricing: Prices vary depending on yacht desired. Boats are available in numerous sizes and prices ranging anywhere in between. A 50% payment is due upon initial booking to reserve your chartered boat. Final payments are due 60-90 days before departure. Payments are subject to the cancellation terms of the charter company.

      Cruise Plan:
Croatia is a vast region with numerous areas to explore, too numerous and vast for any skipper or crew to explore in the one week planned flotilla. Hence, the commodores plan and recommendation is to focus the tour on the Split region. Charters will depart from Trogir and head to the islands of Vis, Brac, and port of Hvar, exploring those regions for the duration of the trip. We'll conclude our tour again in Trogir. Cruisers are encouraged to stay a few extra days on their own before and/or after to take in the land sites in around Split before heading back home.

Airfare, provisioning and meals/drinks are not included. Side excursions and equipment rentals are not included.

Details are ever fluid and will be provided as they come to light. Cruisers, once connected to the charter company, should coordinate their specific charter details with them.
